Reawakening the Inner Nerd at Salt Lake Comic Con Fan X

Interestingly enough, we never fancied ourselves as "comic con goers".  In fact we'd never really taken much interest in any comic con ever.  Which is exactly why we were open to it when a family member suggested that we apply to be on Salt Lake Comic Con's Fan X Media Team.  We're always open to new experiences and given the fact that we travel slowly on a low budget, people watching is certainly one of our fortes.  That being said, Salt Lake Comic Con's Fan X has some of the best people watching on the planet!  Ok... maybe this is a little more down our alley that we knew.   Read more

Injury-induced Musings and Internal Reflections

There’s nothing like a debilitating injury to lead one’s consciousness within. Spawning sudden cases of the woulda-coulda-shouldas as the internal brainwave chatter grows louder. Quieting the mind seems near impossible while thinking about lost and misused opportunities both past and future. Climbing and Skiing Solitude's Fantasy Ridge

It seems I’ve found a new favorite place on the planet (for now). I’ve spent last two winters teaching skiing at Solitude Mountain Resort in Utah to build funds for our travels. While at Solitude, I’d heard tales of the legendary Fantasy Ridge and the serious nature of the skiing that lay within its chutes and rock-laden ridges. It wasn’t until I chose to venture up the Ridge myself that I realized the brevity of this wintry world which overlooked Solitude’s resort boundaries.   Read more
